Initial assessment

A typical initial assessment session lasts for about an hour. It includes time spent talking to you to find out information about your child's development, how you feel about their communication skills and language skills and what your concerns are. The rest of the session is spent assessing your child's speech and language skills. This is done differently depending on their age. Younger children are assessed during play activities. Older children are assessed using a mixture of formal Speech and Language Therapy assessment tasks, informal assessment tasks and conversation. The findings from the assessment will then be discussed with you and any recommendations will be discussed.

Initial assessment sessions are charged from £150. This fee includes a written report detailing the findings of the assessment and the Speech and Language Therapist's recommendations.

Therapy

If your child needs support to develop their social interaction, speech and language skills or fluency skills then you will be offered a block of therapy sessions.

The number of sessions offered and the structure of the therapy sessions will be tailored to your child’s needs.

Therapy sessions last for 45 minutes. All therapy sessions will include some time spent modelling how parents can work with their children at home to practise the skills being taught and help them to progress more quickly.

While therapy sessions are typically offered in clinic, teletherapy (via Zoom) may be available for some children. Please ask for further information.

Therapy sessions are charged at £75 per session.
